· Please complete the information form and thoroughly review it. Scheduling is based on the information provided. · Please feel free to add any additional information that may help in scheduling your Server properly. · All Servers must attend at least one training session. Servers are welcome to attend more than one training session. · Parents are encouraged to review the training material with servers. · Please do not be overly concerned your server makes a mistake. · Your new Server may not be scheduled at your desired Mass for the first two months. All new Servers must serve with experienced Servers in the position of holding the Sacramentary for the priest. · No new Server may serve alone until after three months. · Schedules are mailed to the Server, and posted on the church and school websites. · Schedules are made out monthly but we frequently send more than one month at a time. · Contact us (Sandy and Peter Gazda) ASAP if you know that you cannot serve a specific date. We will block the date and your Server will not be scheduled. We prefer to be contacted by e-mail (sgoodrich@satx.rr.com) so that we have a record of your requests. You may call (492-8247) but it is much less likely that we will get the message and therefore get your information correct. · Once schedules have been mailed, it is the Server’s responsibility to get a replacement. By agreeing to serve, you are committing to make sure your position is filled. · If you loose a schedule, e-mail me and us and we’ll will send you a new one. · Please do not worry about emergency situations (the Server is sick or some other unscheduled life event). Mass will proceed without you. Do not add to your stress by scrambling to find a last minute substitute. · Christmas and Easter are the exception to almost all the rules. There are added Masses that must be covered. You may be asked to serve at a Mass different from your regular schedule. Again, if you know that you will be unavailable for one of these Holy Days, we need to know ASAP so that we may block out the dates for you. · Please make sure that your Server arrives for Mass 10 – 15 minutes early. It is part of the job. · This is a voluntary ministry. At any time your Server no longer desires or cannot be a part of it, please contact us so that we can remove him/her from the schedule. We only ask that he/she serve out the remainder of the schedule. Once a year, we will update the roster and ask if you plan to return. However, if at any time your Server can longer participate, please let us know so we can delete him from the scheduling process. Please do not just quit coming. We then have to guess at your intent.
Thank you for being a part of the Altar Server Ministry
